Embedded Utility Programs

Embedded in the Phantasmic.app are three utility programs. These can be run in a Terminal session. You can copy the programs to a directory of your choice using the Export CLI tools menu item.

The keys and values are not documented by Apple and are not officially supported by Apple.

fanutil

Usage:
fanutil -h|--help
fanutil [-i|--id \] -l|--list
fanutil -i|--id \ -a|--auto [-v|--verbose]
fanutil -i|--id \ -s|--speed \ [-v|--verbose]

##### Options -h | –help
Display the text shown
-i | –id
Each fan has an identifier. The identifiers can be found by running fanutil -l
-l | –list
If a fanid is specified, only that fan will be listed. If no fan is specified then all fans are listed.
-a | –auto
The specified fan is placed under control of macOS. This is the default behaviour of the system.
-s | –speed
Set the speed of the specified fan to the rpm value. To restore the fan to system control, run fanutil with the –auto option
-v | –verbose
Show more detail in the command output.

Please note: The –auto and –speed options can only be run by the root user. Use sudo to run the command.
